Team wod practice:

  •  2 of 4 team members, run with 40/80# sandbag 200m, while other 2 do AMRAP of OHS 75/55# during others' run
  • switch, still keeping score of running total reps
  • repeat except instead of OHS you do SDLHP, same weight -- keeping up with reps
  • Team then does total of 300 DLs, one person at a time
RESULT = first time was 13:3x (didn't get total reps), 2nd time was 12:31 (didn't get total reps) but we did better 2nd time around. Figured it's because we knew what to expect that time & could bust tail when possible & knew when to take a breather. Either that, or we finally just got warmed up.

Recupe/veg day! We slept in from all the partying we did yesterday.

FOOD

BF = banana

Snack = 6 paleo pancakes

Lunch = tuna salad + apple

Dinner = hamburger patty w/ bacon and avocado, tangerine

WOD
Nothing. Like I mentioned above, it was a total vegitation day. I even took a nap with Owen!!

Sat, Nov 20 -- The Birthday Party

We had Owen's third birthday party today. Most everyone showed up & everyone had an excellent time! But I am wiped out from 1) finishing cleaning house this morning in preparation for the party, and 2) from all the kids running around. But Owen loved the day and all that was in store for him, so it's all worth it!

FOOD

BF = tangerine

Lunch  = tuna salad lettuce wraps

Dinner = hamburger patty + 1 avocado & 4 pieces of bacon squished on top of the patty, 2 tangerines. I broke down and had a small piece of cake, too. It just smelled SO good. The end of the paleo challenge is seeming so far away now, when in reality it's only 3 days!!

WOD

Fri, Nov 19

WHEW! I woke up feeling great after going to bed so early last night. Apparently my body needed some major catch-up sleep. Of course, I'm not doing it any good typing away at 11:19pm tonight. I'm finishing up (finally!!) getting the desktop back up and operational, after it caught the ThinkPoint virus. All's well that ends well.

FOOD

BF = 3 hard boiled eggs, fruit/spinach smoothie

Snack = 3 pieces 85% cacao

Lunch = broke down at Sam's Club & cheated!! I had a sample of apple pie, and another of cherry pie. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Up to this point in the 30-day challenge, I'd only cheated 1 other time (at Sam's again, with apple pie). Well, I guess I have to count my 78% cacao's, but I'm keeping it realistic, see?

Dinner = roasted chicken, fruit/spinach smoothie + 2 pieces 85% cacao

WOD
Off day again today. Hubby didn't get home in time from work for me to go to the afternoon sessions. But I spent the afternoon cleaning house. Ugh. That HAS to count for something. I'm definitely worn out from it!

Despite the cheating set back, I have to announce I totally rocked some courdoroys that I hadn't worn one to two years pre-Owen. Holla!

Thurs, Nov 18

Felt good this morning after sleeping a full 8hrs last night.

FOOD

BF = fruit smoothie

Snack =  banana + almonds

Lunch =  hamburger patty with half an avocado (squished) + 4 pieces of bacon, crispy & broken up and mixed in with the avocado, smeared on top of the patty. YUM! Broccoli, apple sauce + 3 pieces of 78-85% cacao. I'm experimenting with some new brands!

Snack =  apple

Dinner =  another apple (worked late)

WOD

Off day again. Worked late, got home around 8:15pm, and hit the sack at 8:30pm.

Wed, Nov 17

Happy 3rd birthday to Owen!!

Whew, last night was a late night at the box. It took us forever to get through the 1RM's, but I bet had we not gabbed quite as much we could've gotten it over with quicker. But again, many PRs were set last night, so I think most everyone is quite pleased with their efforts.

FOOD

BF = fruit/spinach smoothie, 4 pieces of bacon

Snacks = 2 boiled eggs + banana

Lunch = tuna salad, applesauce

Snack = apple

Dinner = 1.5 hamburger patties, fruit/spinach smoothie

WOD

OFF night. And thank goodness, too, because I was exhausted. I'm even hitting the sack early so as to get 8hrs of sleep!

Tues, Nov 16

Back feels a little better today. Yesterday was a rough WOD:  Fran. I was already tired from the Team WOD on Sunday, so this one did nothing to help that recovery. Oh well, guess I'll go with the "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" motto.
FOOD

BF = fruit/spinach smoothie

Snack = banana

Lunch = filet mignon, spinach/avocado salad, pumpkin pudding + 1 square 86% cacao

Snack = almonds

Dinner =  fruit/spinach smoothie, broccoli, a little bit of turkey breast (it was spicy & I didn't care for it)

I popped up at 4am this morning, ready to go. But when I saw the time I made myself go back to sleep for another hour. Big mistake. I have video of the WOD (only Tami & I were present), but unfortunately the ThinkPoint virus outsmarted the spouse. So until I have fixed that little issue I won't be posting more pics/video.  :(

Team WOD practice today for competition on Dec 5. It went well. I was nervous but was able to bust out DLs better than expected.

30 wall balls, each team member, one at a time (M=20#, F=14#)

Then simultaneously each person tackles a station at each of the following, rotating when the last person of the group finishes whatever station they are at, until all stations have been completed by all members:
row 300m
box jumps 24"
30 KB swings  M=53#, W=35#
30 push press M=45#, W=25# dumbbells

30 DLs, each team member, one at a time (M=225# F=135#)

RESULT = 19:31. Not bad & I was excited for our team. We finished within the 20min cut-off, and I was proud of myself having done better than I thought, especially doing the tall box jumps for the first time. WHEW! While right now I don't forsee our team dominating at the competition, we'll still be a force to be reckoned with (so long as OHS aren't a part of the deal).

Fri, Nov 12

OMG. This morning came way too quickly. Decided to for-go work today, having acquired my 40hrs last night and not looking forward to waking up at the usual time -- sorry work peeps, I chose the lazy way out. Owen woke me up around 0645, but was kind enough to crawl in bed with me for another 20min (semi-laying/squirming) before deciding to climb on my back to help wake me up. Moms around the globe, I'm sure you can relate in some fashion...

Mad some pumpkin pudding last night. It's edible. Not sure if I'll repeat it unless I do something a little different. Wondering if raisins are paleo? The pudding is almost overly pumpkin'ish. More apple sauce or honey next time maybe. The chocolate paleo pancakes I tried though were a hit! More cinnamon next time though.

FOOD

BF = 1.5 eggs (Owen ate part of mine), 2 pieces bacon

Lunch = bbq pulled pork, banana + almond butter, 4 paleo cookies

Snack = apple

Dinner = peanuts (non-paleo, but nuts), chocolate paleo pancakes

I arrived at the box at 10am, sleepy but determined to work in a WOD before the day gets crazy. Big to-do list! Turns out there is no 10am class, but I lucked out because Brandon showed up & Amy was kind enough to lead us through the rigamorole.

Was in bed at 9:30pm last night, so feeling a little more refreshed. My elbows are a little sore, but what doesn't kill me makes me stronger, right? It was a loooong day overall. Late night at work (got home a little before midnight) makes for a sleepy chica! And because I didn't plan better food-wise for a super-long day at work, it was another not-so-great yet still all paleo day.

FOOD

BF = fruit/spinach smoothie

Lunch = bbq pulled pork, spinach salad, 5 paleo cookies

Snack = apple + almonds

Dinner = ten 71% cacao disks + apple

Late snack = banana

FOOD

BF = banana w/ almond butter

Snack = apple + three 71% cacao disks

Lunch = fajita chicken & steak with guacamole, 5 paleo cookies

Snack = apple + four 71% cacao disks

Dinner = apple, 6 paleo cookies

Yeah, food-wise today wasn't the best. But at least it was all still paleo (except maybe the chocolate since technically it's not 85%). I was simply most proud of the fact that while at the mexican food restaurant today, I didn't eat cheese, chips, or tortillas. That, in my book, is a feat next to a miracle for myself. What will power!

WOD

Went to bed late last night. I suppose I should clarify though, since it's all relative, right? 10pm for me is late. Felt it today, especially when work got a little slow during the afternoon. Sun, Nov 7

Time changed last night, and normally you gain an hour. But not when there are wee ones in the house. You basically lose an hour because they get up at the 'normal' time, which is in all actuality now earlier than usual. And that's how it was at the Clagett Clan's abode this morning. Ryan slept in some as usual, but I got up & fed Owen his usual weekend breakfast of french toast. I was really craving it, but steered clear. After yesterday's cheat, I want to get back on track. Only 15 more days to go until the challenge is over.  So I made some Paleo cookies for healthy snacks, this time instead of using cherries I used strawberries and apricots. Delightful! Texturally they turned out better than the first batch. The trick was to make the cookies smaller & leave the fruit a bit chunkier. Both batches still tasted pretty darn good though! I'll experiment with blueberries next time, and probably raisins the time after that.

But he didn't like it, so I ate it for him. It was my first cheat since starting the Paleo challenge. I felt guilty, but it was oh so good. Noted I felt a little 'off' for a couple of hours thereafter. Sugar and processed carbs overloading the system? Had to have been that canned cherry pie filling...

Thurs, Nov 4

From yesterday's post you saw I went to bed early last night. Amazingly I slept well, only to be awakened by the alarm. Normally when I go to bed that early I pop up about an hour or two before the alarm, so that tells me my body obviously needed the rest. Now I'm not feeling so bad about having skipped yesterday's workout. However, I've had the worst sinus headache today. I'm not stopped up and have no problems breathing, but I took some sinus stuff anyway. Didn't seem to help. Hope I'm not coming down with something worse! I already had my flu shot.

FOOD

Appetite hasn't decreased any, so I guess that's a good sign.

BF = scrambled eggs

Lunch = roast beef, carrots, spinach/avocado salad, 75% dark choco w/ almonds

Snack = grapes

Later snack = apple

Dinner = fruit/spinach smoothie

WOD

It was going to be a karate night tonight, but that was up for debate as I left work a little late. On the way, something popped in my sinus cavity and pain ensued. It was then I decided to go home and mire in my misery, not wanting to tilt my head the slightest bit.

Thursday, November 4, 2010

Wed, Nov 3

I went to bed late last night, playing on the computer too long (making the blog fun, of course!). I totally felt it when the alarm went off this morning. I typically car pool but this morning I was the longer ranger -- but it allowed me to crank up the music & sing to myself as a means to stay awake on the road. Good times.

FOOD

BF = banana + scrambled bacon & eggs

Lunch = One of the users at work actually bought us bbq from Meschack's for helping get her out of a jam. WAY coolio! So I had that with spinach/avocado salad & grapes.

Snack = apple, almonds, 2 squares of 75% cacao+almond bar

Dinner =  fruit/spinach smoothie

*  A note about my diet. I ate a baking chip of 61% dark chocolate yesterday & found myself thinking it was very good. I must be acquiring that dark chocolate taste now, because when I first tried it, I thought it was bitter and wondered how anyone could ever think this was something good to eat alone! AND... I've really come to enjoy eating those spinach/avocado salads. Alone each is kinda ewey, but when tossed together with some OG dressing it turns into something marvelous. Quite filling too. It could be the whole avocado I put in there though....

WOD

Nope, no wod tonight. I put lil Owen to bed & realized I was really dragging and could fall asleep rather quickly, so I hit the sack about 8:35pm. Awoke when Ryan got home around 9:30pm but immediately went right back to sleep. Hooray for ZZZs!

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Tues, Nov 2

As you can see from the pic, I went and voted today. My original intent was to vote during the early phase, and I either kept forgetting or put it off. That'll teach me! I prefer voting early because the lines aren't long. I waited 20min this time around, and I know that's not long compared to some folks. But I'm used to walking in, doing my thing, and getting right out. Besides, I'm an impatient person!

5 thrusters
10 burpees

STRENGTH = 1RM is 70#  -->  53# x5, 60# x3, 63# x5 (I goofed on the math), 68# x3
RESULT = 12:43 @ 55#

The thrusters felt a little light, so I probably should've gone 60# or 65#. I bet Monica wouldn't have me do them at 65#. But I still felt I got in a good workout as I was dead by the end of it.

Ok, here I have to interject to add pics of everyone at the end of the WOD.

During the WOD -- pssst, notice Tami breathing hard!!

Carey dead

Taylor dead

Clinton dying

And Tami... HOW does that lady do it?!?! It must be her super power.  :)

Mon, Nov 1

Happy first of November!

Where has the time gone? I realized today I only have 3 more weeks left of work before Thanksgiving, and then after that only another 3 more weeks until I'm off for Christmas! That means Xmas shopping will need to be in the works, shortly. Ugh.

FOOD

BF = 4 almond/banana pancakes

Snack = banana

Lunch = 1.5 sirloin patties & broccoli, applesauce

Dinner =  roast & carrots

WOD

Off day.  The box had an Olympic coaching session in lieu of normal classes. I missed it.  :(  Heard it was a good one though. They are sponsoring a gymnastics session in Nov. Am contemplating going to that one. I'd like to make one of my goals for 2011 to do a muscle-up! I will allegedly find out how to progress to that goal from the gymanstics seminar.
