Fri, 4/26 -- Kelly

Warmup/Strength/WOD:

Ok, so this is one of those wods that simply SUCKS. You look at it and think (like I did), that looks kinda fun! But then approx into the 2nd round you have major 2nd thoughts about liking it. By the 3rd round you're already dying and wondering how on earth you're going to make it the whole 5 rounds. Round 4 the real challenge of mental battle begins as your body screams for you to stop because your arms won't work on the wall balls and your legs feel so heavy they barely move. It's sad when the run is the resting point. Round 5's goal changes to simply doing 1-2 reps of the movements just so you can finish. Screw the time. I just have to finish!! And then you do. And you feel your performance was the worst ever. But then you look at your last Kelly time and realize, oh, that was about the same (like me except maybe a handful of seconds slower) or you see that you actually finished better than last time. There's somewhat of a little congratulatory "hooray I'm still alive" aspect to it. It didn't compensate for me though, because I haven't felt that level of suck in a wod in quite a while. Must mean we realize why it's a Girl WOD! It takes some elitish athletes 20+ minutes to do this, so finishing in about a half-hour isn't too shabby.  Just gotta remember that....

Everyone is working a variety of box jumps or wall balls!

Felt bright today!

Wed, 4/17 -- Still on the road in WI

Warmup/Strength/WOD:

Today I thought I'd go early in the morning to avoid a lot of the stares, but I was surprised to find many ppl on the treadmills. But at least they were facing away so they didn't have to gawk as I did my thing. Even better, the exercise room wasn't in use, and I stole one of the aerobics step-ups to use as a box for jumping.  :)

Doing CrossFit in GloboGyms is always challenging. Mostly because you have to make sure they have the equipment you want/need and because you have to have thick skin to avoid the weird looks that ppl give you when you're going at the wod full force. Folks are used to seeing a certain type of mannerism and action in a typical gym. Outside of that, and you get "the looks". You just gotta learn to ignore them and tell yourself that everyone is only wondering how on earth that little girl can pick up such heavy weight and WHOA! she looks like she's about to pass out. hehe I actually did have one guy ask me if I was doing ok when I bent over to look at my phone that was laying on the ground so I could see what the next movement was. I guess he thought I was light-headed or something. It was kind of him to at least check in on me!

Greg was working on OHS this evening as we left. On the way out, I told everyone to "have fun & see ya tomorrow!". I didn't mean for extra drama to be thrown in. Poor Greg, turns out he dislocated his shoulder in attempting PR#2 on OHS tonight. Bummer of a deal! On the bright side, I suppose his legs will get some really good wok now. Praying for you, Greg...

great minds think alike -- we all were thinking pink socks that day!

Look at the # of bodies at the gym in a single class!

Wowzers -- in Joey's defense, I'll say that I've seen some bugs crawling around the floor before. Perhaps she really did have ants in her pants. HA!

Fri, 4/5 -- 13.5 Open WOD

Ok, this wod was only 4 min long. So once the 4 min was over, I decided to finish out at least 3 full rounds of the wod NFT. Then afterwards, for each C2B that Jax worked, I did an extra thruster, since I consider them my bane. It was good for both of us. We decided we'll work weaknesses like that more often. Sort of a 1-for-1 or X-for-X ratio. Misery loves company, after all, and at least we'll be making the best of that misery!!

Oh, AND because I've been so forgetful with pics lately, I made sure to get plenty this last time. For your viewing enjoyment:
